From Seed to Bloom: An Inside-Out approach to Creative Practice
Wednesdays 9am - 11am Pacific Time
May 7th - June 11th, 2025
(12 hours of zoom sessions)
Max 8 people
Overview
Through presentations and small group discussions, we will explore the practical, emotional and energetic layers to being an artist and creating work that matters.
Who is this for? Anyone who wants to deepen their creative practice and find a more authentic voice as a visual artist. Although painting technique will be discussed, this is not a class to teach you how to paint in a certain way. A basic understanding of your materials is highly encouraged and you are welcome to work in any medium you like. The most important thing is that you come with an open mind, a willingness to engage, be challenged and take risks!
Who is this NOT for? Anyone who is only looking for technical skills training. I have a demo video that goes through my process for realistically painting skin and the human form, which you can find here. Also please note that this is a class of up to 8 people. If you prefer to work with me one-on-one, you can learn more here.
This 6 week class will be broken into three sections:
SEED - What is our soil made of? Who are we as individuals? What is the history and context in which we discover, plant and nurture our creative ideas?
SPROUT - What is beginning to grow? How can we encourage this potential so it evolves into its fullest becoming?
BLOOM - What needs to be done in order to bring our ideas to fruition? What seeds can be gathered? The end is also a beginning.
What is included:
Approximately 12 hours of zoom presentations/group discussions (recordings available)
Downloadable demo video on realistically painting the human body
A 45 minute one-on-one zoom session to be scheduled within a year of class ending
I want this class to be available to anyone who needs it. If you are a dedicated artist, but cost is a big inhibitor, please reach out to me to discuss options.
